AMBASSADOR'S MESSAGE

Distinguished visitors,
I warmly welcome you to the website of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations and other International Organizations based in Geneva and the Embassy to Switzerland.
Afghanistan joined the United Nations on November 19, 1946 to become its 52nd founding member. Afghanistan has since then demonstrated its commitment to the UN Charter in "maintaining international peace and security" for mankind, thus "reaffirming faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small". Accordingly, the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan in Geneva is an avenue for constructive engagement between Afghanistan, the United Nations, international organizations, and the UN member states in the area of multi-lateral diplomacy and strategic partnerships.
Afghanistan and Switzerland have a history of constructive and cordial bilateral relations that date back to 1928 when the late King Amanullah Khan of Afghanistan paid a visit to Switzerland. As the current Ambassador to Switzerland, it is my pleasure and privilege to enhance the relationship between two countries.
This website was created in November 2018 aiming to provide updates about the work of the Permanent Mission, the Embassy as well as information on the consular services. The website also includes a set of useful links to important Governmental websites and major UN and International Organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland.
I extend my best wishes to those who visit and use this website.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any inquiry.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nasir A. Andisha
Afghanistan Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organizations based in Geneva
Ambassador to Switzerland
